OneDrive

OneDrive is Microsoft's cloud storage service for personal Microsoft accounts. It stores documents, photos, and other files online and keeps them in sync across computers and phones.

Bring reference material and notes from a personal OneDrive account into a Space. Files from the folders you select are imported into the Space, and changes in those folders sync automatically. Everyone with access to that Space can ask questions about the files, and answers name the documents they draw on.

What to know before
using OneDrive with Omnifact

Use cases, setup, and permissions when your team connects OneDrive to Omnifact.

What can Omnifact do with documents from a personal OneDrive?

Omnifact turns the OneDrive folders you choose into a knowledge base you can ask questions about. Summarize a stack of research papers, find a decision in old meeting notes, or compare two drafts of a proposal, all in plain language. Each answer names the OneDrive file it is based on, so you can open the original and check the wording yourself.

Who can ask Omnifact about synced OneDrive files?

The members of the Space you sync the folders into. Everyone with access to that Space can ask about the files, and Space membership is what controls access, not the sharing settings in OneDrive. Connect folders whose content every member may see, and keep private files in folders you do not sync.

Do changes in OneDrive show up in Omnifact automatically?

Yes. Once a OneDrive folder is connected to a Space, Omnifact picks up new, edited, and deleted files on its own. You never upload new versions by hand, and answers always draw on the current version of each document, so the Space stays in line with the folders you selected.

Which OneDrive file types does Omnifact read?

Omnifact reads PDF, Word, PowerPoint, OpenDocument text and presentations, plain text, Markdown, CSV, and JSON files, up to 500 MB each. Reports, slide decks, notes, and exports all work well. Excel workbooks are the exception: save the data as a CSV file, and Omnifact reads it too.

Can Omnifact show which OneDrive file an answer comes from?

Yes. Every answer based on your OneDrive documents names the files it draws on, so you can open the original and check the wording. That makes it easy to confirm a figure in a report or a statement in your notes before you rely on it or pass it on.

Where does Omnifact store files from OneDrive?

Synced documents are stored and indexed in Omnifact, inside the Space you chose, so answers come back quickly and with sources. Your original files stay in OneDrive under your agreement with Microsoft. Omnifact is operated in Germany, business data is not used to train the connected AI models, and admins can limit Omnifact to European or Europe-hosted models.

How do I connect OneDrive to Omnifact?

An Omnifact admin turns on OneDrive once, and you then sign in with your personal Microsoft account in your account settings under App Connections. Personal accounts need no approval from your IT team. You then choose the folders for a Space. If your files are in a work or school account, use the OneDrive for Business integration instead.
