# Sentry

Sentry is an application monitoring platform that captures errors, performance data, and session replays from web, mobile, and backend software. Engineering teams use it to find, triage, and fix bugs and slow code in production.

With the Sentry integration, developers can investigate issues, search events, and look into performance problems from Omnifact: get a Sentry error and its stack trace explained in plain language, search events by describing what you are looking for, and trace slow requests to where the time goes. Users sign in with their own Sentry account and only see and change the organizations and projects they have access to in Sentry.

## What you can do

- **Investigate issues**
Open an issue and get its stack trace, breadcrumbs, tags, and user reports explained in plain language.
- **Search events**
Find errors, issues, logs, traces, and replays by describing what you are looking for.
- **Analyze performance**
Look at traces, spans, and profiles of slow requests to see where the time is spent.
- **Find root causes with Seer**
Have Seer, Sentry's AI debugger, analyze an issue and suggest a root cause and fix.
- **Review releases and monitors**
Check releases, dashboards, cron and uptime monitors, metric monitors, and alert rules.
- **Triage issues**
Resolve, assign, and add notes to issues, or link them to an external ticket, if you grant triage access when connecting.
- **Manage projects and teams**
Create and update projects, teams, DSNs, alert rules, and monitors, if you grant project management access when connecting.

## What to know before using Sentry with Omnifact

Use cases, setup, and permissions when your team connects Sentry to Omnifact.

### Can Omnifact explain a Sentry error and its stack trace?

Yes. Paste a Sentry issue link or ask for the newest unresolved issues in a project, and Omnifact explains the error in plain language, including the stack trace, breadcrumbs, tags, and user reports. An on-call engineer sees quickly what broke and where to look first. Omnifact can also combine Sentry with your other connected tools in the same conversation.

### How can I find out why a page or request is slow with Sentry?

Ask Omnifact to look at the traces and profiles of a slow request in Sentry. Omnifact shows where the time goes, for example in a database call or an external service, and explains it in plain words. You can also search Sentry errors, logs, and replays by describing what you are looking for instead of writing a query.

### Can Omnifact use Seer to find the root cause of a Sentry error?

Yes. Omnifact asks Seer, Sentry's AI debugger, to analyze an issue and suggest a root cause and a fix, then explains the result next to the stack trace and related events. Seer runs inside Sentry, so it is available wherever your Sentry organization has it turned on.

### How can I triage Sentry issues with Omnifact?

Ask Omnifact to resolve issues, assign them, add notes, or link them to a ticket in your issue tracker, and work through a backlog of new issues in one conversation. You grant triage access when you connect Sentry, and each change waits for your confirmation in the chat by default. Admins decide which actions are allowed.

### Which Sentry projects can Omnifact see?

Exactly the Sentry organizations and projects you can already open. Everyone signs in with their own Sentry account and chooses how much access to grant: read-only, plus issue triage, or plus project management. Omnifact never works through a shared admin account, and anyone can disconnect their account again at any time.

### How does Omnifact handle Sentry error data?

Your Sentry data stays in Sentry under your agreement with Sentry. Omnifact reads issues, events, and traces live when a request needs them, instead of copying or indexing your projects in advance, and what it reads becomes part of that conversation. Omnifact is operated in Germany, business data is not used to train the connected AI models, and admins can limit Omnifact to European or Europe-hosted models.

### How do I connect Sentry to Omnifact?

An Omnifact admin adds Sentry once for the whole organization, and everyone then signs in with their own Sentry account. There is nothing to prepare in Sentry. Anyone can disconnect their account again at any time.
