# Feature Drop: Claude Sonnet 5.5 Now Available

Published on September 28th, 2026

Anthropic launched Claude Sonnet 5.5 today, and it is available immediately on Omnifact. Following our rollouts of [Claude Sonnet 5](https://omnifact.ai/blog/feature-drop-claude-sonnet-5) and [Claude Opus 5.5](https://omnifact.ai/blog/feature-drop-claude-opus-5-5), Sonnet 5.5 brings a substantial upgrade to the model teams rely on for everyday work. It generates output over 30% faster and completes tasks in fewer steps, lowering cost per assignment by up to 30% while maintaining Sonnet's established per-token pricing.

## Faster Execution and Everyday Efficiency

Claude Sonnet 5.5 focuses on the high-frequency tasks knowledge workers and developers handle every day: code refactoring, document synthesis, technical analysis, and multi-step research. Rather than needing a heavy reasoning model for daily problem-solving, teams get sharp logic and dependable execution at rapid response times.

The model solves complex assignments with fewer intermediate corrections and retries. In technical workflows, it plans code modifications cleanly and edits multiple files with high accuracy. Output generation is more than 30% faster than Sonnet 5, reducing latency for conversational and automated agent tasks. An updated knowledge cutoff of June 2026 also gives Sonnet 5.5 fresh context on recent frameworks, libraries, and business developments.

## Sonnet 5.5 vs Sonnet 5 at a Glance

Claude Sonnet 5.5 sharpens everyday task efficiency while maintaining accessible pricing:

| Area | Claude Sonnet 5.5 | Claude Sonnet 5 | Key Difference |
| :--------------------- | :--------------------------------------------------- | :------------------------------------------ | :------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Everyday Coding** | Rapid refactoring, debugging, and command generation | Assisted editing and syntax review | Solves technical problems with fewer retries |
| **Task Efficiency** | Up to 30% lower cost per completed task | Baseline | Reaches answers in fewer intermediate steps |
| **Response Speed** | >30% faster generation | Baseline | Noticeably lower latency during interactive chat |
| **Token Pricing** | $2.00 input / $10.00 output (per 1M tokens) | $2.00 input / $10.00 output (per 1M tokens) | Same per-token rates with higher output efficiency |
| **Context and Output** | 1M context / 128k output tokens | 1M context / 64k output tokens | Double the maximum output length for complete documents |
| **Knowledge Cutoff** | June 2026 | January 2026 | Fresh technical context across libraries and events |

Because Sonnet 5.5 solves problems with fewer retries and shorter planning cycles, completed tasks **cost up to 30% less overall** even though per-token pricing remains identical to Sonnet 5. Combined with a 128,000-token maximum output length, users can generate complete reports, test suites, and documentation in a single pass.

## Enabling Claude Sonnet 5.5 for Your Team

Claude Sonnet 5.5 is available today for organizations on Omnifact via Google Cloud and Anthropic. Team administrators can activate the model in model settings and make it available as a standard-tier model across the entire workspace, or configure team permissions through [Group Management](https://omnifact.ai/blog/feature-drop-group-management) to balance model usage across departments.
